These uncertain times have brought with them much fear, confusion, and anxiety, and as such, it is important now more than ever that we cling to our family and our faith. We must strive to find greater closeness with our family, a closeness that is rooted in a greater closeness to the Lord. During the time of this pandemic, our family has been taking some steps to do just that. First, we have made Sunday morning a time to watch and listen to only Christian music videos. This is a great break from the dreariness we constantly encounter In the news and on social media. It calms our minds and hearts and helps prepare us to receive God's word. Then, we have been enjoying watching Mass online as a family. We do our best to explain to our children what is going on at certain parts of the Mass, particularly during the Eucharistic prayers. We encourage Lily and Max to participate in the responses and prayers. Max especially likes the Sign of Peace.
Another way we emphasize the family-faith connection during this time is to pray for all those affected by the pandemic during our nightly family prayer time. We pray for the victims, medical and other essential workers, and all those who are suffering emotionally. Further, we are sure to thank God for our blessings every day and pray that He helps us find the positives in each day. It is extremely important during this distressing time that we never lose sight of the many gifts God has given us, especially the gift of our family. We may not be able to go out to restaurants or places of entertainment, but we can still spend fun quality time together every day, playing, using our imaginations, cooking together, and learning from each other.
We thank you, God, that we are able to be together. Please continue to keep us, and all members of the North Central Windsor Family of Parishes, safe, healthy, and abounding in love.
