It is an honor for Rob and I to have this opportunity to share our experience with all of you.
As we have been working from home for almost 5 weeks, it certainly has been life changing. At first, I felt uncertain and worried. I kept thinking once our new office was set at home, we would need to quickly adjust to our new life.
I quickly realized that all the running around every day, suddenly stopped, that not much of that matters when you we need to stay alive. We had to adapt and start a whole new dynamic as a couple working from home, pretty much overnight.
We came up with new rules, like staying positive, while we kept our sanity, stay focused, and with our spirit intact. Getting into the routine of working was easy. But we both understood soon enough that we needed help; the kind of help you only get from God. Believing that He watches over us, keeps us strong, keeping our hope and most importantly knowing that we are doing our part staying at home.
Every day we work hard to stay positive, by praying at certain hours, by staying in constant communication with the NCWCF and San Juan Diego of Guadalupe community, checking up on friends and family; But also by finding more ways to stay together with our community. Whenever I start worrying about my family in Mexico, about my mother in law being by herself in her condo, worried about my friends, and pretty much worried about the whole world, we put a little altar in the living room with a candle that I light up during praying time and during mass on Sunday. I also noticed that even though everybody is isolated at home, we have received invaluable gifts, the support from Father Greg, and all the people working at NCWFC, this encourages me to keep working on our faith, to stay closer to our community members.
Even though we don’t know how long this is going to last, we have confidence that God will keep us strong in faith.
Take care everybody and God bless you all.
