In this Lent season, the situation with the Coronavirus is challenging. We feel sad that Muskoka trips for our grade 8's got canceled, kids are sad that they cannot see their friends or play outside. We feel sad because we want to help people who are dying, and we cannot. We feel heartbroken about all of the horrible things happening in the world. We are wondering, is this message from God, or is this work of evil?
We don't know the answer, and we pray to God to give us the answer. It's really hard to see my eight-year-old son asking God to send him a solution on how to fight this virus in his dream, how to create in his words “antidote.”
We pray every day together as a family, we believe by praying together, the prayer is stronger. We watch TV mass by Holy Father. We are reading the Bible to look for some answers. We turn to our Saints; we have the cross on our table. However, we are struggling, our hearts are broken.
We are missing confession and especially now when we are struggling with so many mixed emotions. It would be great if the bishop would approve confession through a secured internet browser, just like doctors are using telemedicine. We are thinking of ways how we could still have Holy mass together and keep the physical distance. We saw on the TV a creative solution - Holy Mass outside. People were sitting in their cars, that was amazing because we do miss that close interaction with the priest, with the parishioners. If we could come up with different ideas, maybe together we could execute something, especially now, as we are approaching the Holy Week. Last year when we saw Notre Dame on fire, we thought that was the worst thing ever, and now, we are facing a pandemic. The burning of Notre Dame brought lots of faithful together. We have to come up with a way how this virus will bring us together to give a testament to God. Let's Pray and find God's message !
