Hello to all of the faithful at our NCWCF. Our names are Rick & Gail Tolmie and we have been parishioners at OLOG since 2009 when St Rose closed. We are familiar faces at 5:00 mass where my husband is a Reader/Commentator and I am a Eucharistic Minister. This time together at mass is important for us to share together. I am also the Director of the Sunday Friends/School program held during the 10:00 mass on Sunday and have been a part of that program since 1987. We have two adult children, a son-in-law and an 18 month old grandson who we adore with another little guy expected in early July. Both children belong to OLOG as well. We stay in touch daily or even hourly with them as they are all essential workers, some doing so from home. Rick & I as well are classified as essential workers even though we work part-time and feel it is something we can continue to give back to others who depend on us. We have been connecting with the masses at St. Anne’s church but also listen closely to the Wednesday Words of Encouragement from our NCWCF. Easter and Holy Week were very difficult for us even though we listened on-line to various masses, (I tried four masses on Easter Sunday), but nothing can compare to sitting in a church filled with people of faith during such a holy season. Rick & I are very close to our extended families so we continue to connect with them regularly by phone and text or virtual face time to at least hear their voices. I am having a very difficult time without being in the Sunday School room each week where the teachers and children share their faith with each other. It is truly a gift from God to have these children in our care and be able to teach these young ones about following Jesus as we learn from each other. I pray that God will keep each of you safe and in His care and that He will keep all of our children closer to His heart. I always tell the children that if they have a difficult decision to make to ask themselves “what would Jesus do?” If they follow Jesus, they will always choose the right path.
God’s light is shining brightly at the end of this Covid 19 tunnel. Follow it and you will find the peace of Christ.
