What a Synod Is

• It is a spiritual process led by the Holy Spirit

What a Synod is Not

• It is not a one-time event
• It is not a survey of popular opinion
• It is not just filling out a questionnaire
• It is about seeing the opportunities
• It is not about seeing only problems
• It is not a study group
• It is not a strategic planning exercise

“Synod” comes from an ancient Greek word meaning “walking together on the road.”

"Pope Francis has called the whole church, all the baptized, to participate in a Synod. The theme for this synod is “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission”.

Dear Parishioner and Friend,
We are beginning our local “Listening Sessions” for the Synod. As you might have heard, Pope Francis has asked all bishops to gather the People of God to share their hopes and dreams prior to the Synod of bishops in Rome in 2023. We are asked to gather locally and share our experiences with the Church and add our voices to the process. That is at the heart of what the Synod is about; people listening to each other, and listening to the Holy Spirit. The Diocese will gather the results of these sessions to help us all learn how God is calling us to be a Church in the third millennium.
For us here at North Central Windsor Catholic Family of Parishes, we will be gathering to listen to each other on our journey on the following dates and churches.
You are encouraged to attend as we prayerfully discuss the future of the Church.
